Monday 4 July 2011

If you are planning to go to Spain, there are many beautiful cities you can go to. However if you want to combine culture and a non typical Spanish holidays, we recommend you to visit Córdoba, a city in the south of Spain.
Córdoba has a great history, this city was founded in IX b. C in the Bronze age. But it was in the Muslim age when the city started to grow in population and importance. In this age it was built
the Mosque of Córdoba, the most important monument of the Islamic west. This edification is one of the more impressive buildings in Spain. Eight kilometres away from the centre city is Medina Azahara, a palatine city built by the caliph Abderramán III to prove his power.
However there is much more to see in this city apart from its monuments, during spring there are many fiestas, and now in the summer you can enjoy many different activities from a flamenco show  to a horse exhibition. The typical houses are white painted and low-rise houses, so if you want to sleep in a real Andalusian house, there are plenty of cheap apartments, the same as in the rest of Spain. Vacation rental in Barcelona could be a good example to support my statement.
Enjoy your time at Córdoba and try their typical dishes. The “gazpacho” is a very tasty tomatoes soup that is usually cooked on summer as a refreshment, there are many variants of this soup, for example “ajoblanco” is another soup made out of onions and almonds. Apart form soups, it is very tasty also a meat roll called “flamenquines”.
At night we suggest you to have a long walk around the city center and the river Guadalquivir, come to enjoy Córdoba. Of course, more delicious meals can be found in every part of Spain. Short term rentals Barcelona apartments have a good location within this city restaurants.
