Barcelona La Merce Festival

Wednesday 24 August 2011

Festivals and more festivals, probably this should be the heading for any guide book about Barcelona. If you are planning your holidays there at around the end of September, you have a chance to see the biggest street festival that is happening annually since 1871 and it is dedicated to the patron saint of Barcelona – Mare de Deu de la Merce. The festival is there for only 5 days, but

it is so saturated with the events, that every visitor will find something worth seeing.
The focus of the festival is the Mediterranean culture, so some of the events include traditional dances, concerts, streets with art pieces and processions. If you are still thinking whether to attend this event or not, check out the videos on the Internet with the lights and laser visualizations, the parades and make the right decision by booking a vacation rental in Barcelona for this September.
The streets of Barcelona are going to be overcrowded, so while planning your trip, exclude the expenses for car rental, since you are not going to use it, better buy more souvenirs for yourself and your friends and family. Another way to save is to find cheap apartments in Barcelona, especially if you are traveling in a group.
The exact schedule of the events is not available yet, however it is going to be even more interesting this year, since it is announced that there will be a performance of young talented magicians, illusionists, and of course the opening speech of a famous Catalan TV and radio journalist on September 22. So we all know where are you going to be September 22-25 this year.
